Redshift
Redshift is part of a series of visual abstractions 'Hypnos' in development by Julia Set Lab.
Made with crystal and light, it is inspired by the physical phenomenon called Redshift.
The shapes that appear and dissolve in the dark are reflections and refractions of light on a crystal. The movement, whether of light or of the object, creates a continuous change of perspective and generates glows, phosphenes and in some cases recognizable or pareidolic shapes.
This artisanal technique was first used for the film Àpeiron, completed in 2021.
The 3D effect of some sequences doesn't come out of CGI or image overlay. It has been recorded as such in the original shooting session.
